The historic Bobrek smelter undergoes renovation

The historic powerhouse of the Bobrek Smelter, will undergo a comprehensive restoration. The building was built in a neo-Romanesque style and served various functions, such as the electrical department, a common room and a changing room. Potentially, the entire area where the historic power plant building is located covers an area of 150 ha. This area has convenient transport links, including a railway siding of the Bytom - Gliwice route and proximity to the DK 88 national road.

As part of the renovation project, the interior of the powerhouse will be virtually transformed into a new building. The concept is to place the office facilities and the Coking Museum in the same building, creating separate spaces next to each other. During the renovation work, special attention will be given to the restoration of the power plant's brick facade, including the characteristic large arched windows and arcades.
